The Independence Civic Council (ICC) was created by the Independence Chamber of Commerce in 2015. The purpose of the ICC is to support initiatives that improve the climate of success for Independence businesses and the quality of life for residents.
Details
- Meets upon the direction of the Chairman
- Time commitment: As needed
- Committee is open to join year-round with $500 yearly investment
The Independence Civic Council is comprised of Chamber members who contribute a minimum of $500 annually as an investment in our community. Members are not limited to the minimum contribution. Submission of requests for funding is initiated by contacting Tom Lesnak tom@ichamber.biz via email or phone 816-463-3510. Requests for funding are forwarded to the ICC Chairperson who has sole discretion in scheduling a meeting of ICC members to hear the proposal. When possible, more than one request is presented at a meeting.
Following each presentation, members in attendance discuss the merits of the proposal and those present are offered a single vote on each of two questions;
- “Shall the ICC fund this effort?”
- “How much funding shall we provide to this worthy cause?”
Any member of the Independence Chamber of Commerce is eligible to become a member of the ICC. Membership is open to Chamber employees. Membership of the ICC requires an annual contribution of $500 or greater.
A business may contribute any amount over $500. Each business receives a single vote, regardless of the amount donated.
