Take Action
Hearing from constituents is a valuable tool in helping guide legislation and make sure your voice is heard. Addressing issues that are beneficial or potentially have a negative impact on the business community are the focus for our advocacy program. The Public Policy Committee and the Independence Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors meet on a regular basis to review issues take positions to support or oppose proposed legislation. Our new member advocacy platform allows you to communicate your opinions directly to your elected officials. As issues come up, you will find on this page the position the Chamber Board has taken and gives you the ability to contact elected officials through email, video or phone call.
Committee Meeting Details
- Meets the second Monday of the month, 4:00 PM
- Time commitment: Attending one-hour meeting monthly & as needed for other projects throughout the year
- Committee is open to join year-round

Our Legislative Agenda is developed by the Public Policy Committee and communicates the Chamber’s positions on issues at the state, local and federal levels of government. Working together with various legislative organizations helps promote public policy decisions that reflect the priorities of the Independence business economy.
