Take Action

Hearing from constituents is a valuable tool in helping guide legislation and make sure your voice is heard.  Addressing issues that are beneficial or potentially have a negative impact on the business community are the focus for our advocacy program.  The  Public Policy Committee and the Independence Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors meet on a regular basis to review issues take positions to support or oppose proposed legislation.

Committee Meeting Details

  • Meets the third Friday of the month, 8:30 am when legislature in-session
  • Time commitment: Attending one-hour meeting monthly & as needed for other projects throughout the year
  • Committee is open to join year-round

Legislative Agenda

Our Legislative Agenda is developed by the Public  Policy Committee and communicates the Chamber's positions on issues at the local, state and federal levels of government. Working together with various legislative organizations helps promote public policy decisions that reflect the priorities of the Independence business economy. Below is our stance on our economy's pressing issues, as of January 2026.
