Community Corner
Independence T.O.G.E.T.H.E.R.
Independence T.O.G.E.T.H.E.R. is a community partnership between the City of Independence, Community Services League and MoDOT meant to focus two priorities – assisting residents who are experiencing unstable housing and community beautification.

The survey below is to assist the citizens of Independence and local employers, we have embarked on an initiative to gauge the interest of the business community as it relates to fair and equitable treatment of all employees.
Adopt-A-Street
Who can participate?
The program is open to local families, businesses, organizations, civic groups, churches, neighborhood associations, and community groups with a willingness to accept responsibility for adopting a street for one year. Minors must be at least (12) years of age and require written parental permission for participation. Adoption is renewable given that all program requirements are met within the previous adoption period.
How do I get started?
- Contact the City’s Adopt-A-Street Coordinator to confirm which segment of roadway is available for adoption.
- Commit to pick up litter on both sides along the designated stretch of roadway at least four times per year during the length of the two-year Agreement. You are encouraged to clean your street more often if needed.
- The adopting group must designate a Group Leader (21 years of age or older) to serve as a liaison between the group and the City.
- Submit a completed application to the Adopt-A-Street Coordinator.
- Schedule our first clean-up event.
